Fresh Snow

First Snow, 14" x 18", acrylics on museum quality panel, $699 to the first asking nicely. Inquiries may come to ksantini@turtledovedesigns.com .

Want something similar starring your dog? I work from your photos to create an image that is uniquely your pet. Museum quality panels start at $399 - inquire now for holiday delivery.

It's been a crazy couple of weeks, between unexpectedly having to purchase a new car, moving into my out-side-the-house-studio, planning an open studio event, shipping work to a new gallery, diving headfirst into an exciting new series of paintings and feeling a bit under the weather. But I'm persisting and learning every day.

Today I learned how to check a head gasket in an engine, took in an exhibition that didn't thrill me much at all (but it's still important to look!), read up on the election results (which were exciting to say the least), played in the leaves with the dogs, and ate my spinach. Now I'm ready for jammies and a book.

Langourous

Languorous (daVinci). 12" x 16", acrylics on museum quality panel, portrait of studio muse and quality control manager, $549. Inquiries may always come to me.

So what does an artist do when they are still feeling a bit under the weather on Day 5? They show up. Because nobody else will finish varnishing paintings, respond to emails, update inventory archives, coordinate commissions, and work on grant proposals.

And when it came time for me to choose a subject for today's painting, I opted for my kitty. Because today was a day to stick inside my comfort zone. And eat mashed potatoes.

There's no gift quite as wonderful as a custom pet portrait. I paint from your photos, resulting in a surprise to unwrap that's like no other. Now is the time to start discussing and planning any holiday gifts you would like to commission.

Museum quality portraits start around $400, and are priced according to size and complexity. If you have a smaller budget, reach out to me so we can discuss other options.

She Cracks Herself Up

She Cracks Herself Up. 8" x 10", acrylics on museum quality panel, commissioned portrait of a goofy yellow lab, sold (TY very much). Inquiries may always come to me.

Cracker Jack. 16" x 20", acrylics on panel, $649. Inquiries may always come to me.

I am tempted to keep this one, but willing to allow fate to send her elsewhere, in case she's needed more by someone else.

Spending time thinking about what makes my heart skip a beat, and why, so that I can incorporate it into my paintings. OKeefe (my hamster) is one of those things.

The black horse is a uniquely powerful amulet

The black horse is a uniquely powerful amulet. 24" x 20", acrylics on panel, sold (thank you!). Inquiries may come to me.

I was asked to paint a black horse, and somewhere along the way I was seduced by her magic. It's not the first time she's done this - Shadow was destined for another fate altogether when her current owner bought her from a kill pen.

And as often happens with rescued animals, they reciprocate by rescuing their new owners.

Squeaker

Squeaker, a Florus Animalum painting

48" x 48 x 1/2"", acrylics on panel, starring a not-so-tiny mouse sprouting a mass of wildflowers. Squeaker is $4599 to the first asking nicely. Payment plans available. Inquiries may come to me. Please and thank you.

This little one has a huge personality. And probably every color in the world is tucked into his floral crown. What a focal point Squeaker will make......

David+Austin

David+Austin, a Florus Animalum painting

36" x 48", acrylics on panel, starring two thoroughbreds nuzzling amid a tangle of english roses. David+Austin is $3599 to the first asking nicely. Inquiries may come to me. Please and thank you.

I've included a detail below. This is an incredibly complex piece full of subtlety, and while it looks pretty wonderful (if I do say so myself) on the computer, it's breathtaking in person.

Peter took advantage of Mr McGregor's distraction over world events to raid the cabbages.

I wouldn't put it past him, Peter that is, to have orchestrated the whole thing. He's got connections and a rap sheet. I'm just saying.....

20" x 24", acrylics on panel, featuring a spunky daschund mix, $799 to the first asking nicely - inquiries may come to me. Please and thank you.

I wish I could be more like Tiny. Satisfied with kibble and chasing butterflies. I suppose starting by appreciating the simple things is a step in the right direction.

Catnap

"Catnap," a portrait of studio kitty daVinci, 12" x 12", acrylics on panel. Available to the first daring to invite Vinnie into their home. He's been peeling wallpaper from the walls and taunts the crated puppy ridiculously. Although the painted version should behave far better. $200 will get you a cat. Inquiries to me, and thank you so much.

And yes, I am still doing commissioned pet portraits, starting around $300 for a museum quality painting. A portrait is a fabulous way to honor our four legged family members. Reach out if this is something you are considering - I do a couple of them each month.

Brocade

"Brocade," from The Beribboned Series, 16" x 20", acrylics on panel. Available to the first asking nicely, $649 (includes s&h inside the US). Thank you so much.

Continuing my obsession with rodents, this guinea pig is pretty proud of her ribboned bonnet. The color in this piece lifts my heart - it's even more glorious in person.

Wouldn't she be perfect in a nursery? a little girl's room? a powder room? an office space? I see her happily residing in a room full of laughter and love.

Speaking of little girls - I'm ducking out early today - The Princess's competition dance season starts in a couple of hours. I'll be back on Monday with my head full of music, lights, costumes, and the theater of movement. Lucky me!!

The Princess's gentle lionhead bunny modeled for this painting. Everyone in our family, even the four legged members, has to earn their keep!

Special thanks to a super wonderful young lady for sharing pics of her wee one's with me - hope I did them justice Islay!! Thank you also to MR for the best title ever.

Also, SUPER excited because The Princess gets to tame and train a mouse in her zoology class this term. Which means OKeefe (the studio hamster) will have a friend!! So happy!! (it doesn't take much to make me happy these days!)
